Community Hope Center Inc.
The Community Hope Center was established in April of 1988 by Rev. Leameal and Crystal Davis in an old fire house in Cottage Hills, Illinois.  They have two children, Leameal and Diana Davis.  In 1987, Leameal & Crystal started helping people with food out of their own supplies at home. Their home became the first location of food distribution.  When their home could no longer supply the demand for food coming from their neighbors needs, they decided to find a building to start an outreach.  On April 4,1988 they were able to rent an old fire house in Cottage Hills Illinois. In the first month the Community Hope Center fed over 100 people. Currently, the center distributes over 4 tons of food each month to over 2500 people from 9 counties in Illinois.  In addition to food, families receive furniture, blankets, clothing all free of charge. The CHC staff, of over 110 volunteers, work to help families that are less fortunate daily.  CHC volunteers put in as many as 80 hours a week to help distressed victims in crisis situations.

In 2001 Rev. Leameal Davis received the Rams Quarterback award for public service.  Kurt Warner presented the award alone with a check for the Community Hope Center for outstanding work benefiting a community.

In 1998, the Executive Director, Crystal Davis, received several outstanding awards for her years of service to this community. Listed below, they have helped her gain recognition and the additional support that the C.H.C. has needed to advance in its endeavor to help those less fortunate.

February 15, 1998- The Masonic Community Service Award was given to Mrs. Davis for  her work in helping those less fortunate.

June 10, 1998- Mrs. Davis received the KSDK Channel 5, Volunteer 5 Award.

June 10, 1998- Mrs. Davis received the Local Jefferson Award. Presented to her by the Institute For Public Service in Washington, DC. They paid her way to Washington to be apart of a three day event to present her with this and another award.

June 17,1998- The Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis Award for the Greatest Pubic Service Benefiting Local Communities was awarded to Mrs. Davis at the Supreme Court Building in Washington, DC.  Only 5 people received this award out of 1400 nominations. It is the highest honor that an  individual can acquire for their volunteer work in their community.

Crystal Davis has dedicated her life, without pay, to help over 161,290,000
people in the past decade with the necessities of life.  Many times her only benefit would be to hear a heartfelt “Thank-you!” from a local family that was able to feed their children because of the food they received at the Community Hope Center.
